Project Location: Lancaster, PA

Problem: The portions of Santo Domingo Creek that flowed through New Street Park, a community park in Lititz Borough, were severely degraded. The straightened stream banks were steep and eroded, and the channel cut down deep into legacy sediment. Flooding was a frequent problem in the adjoining, heavily populated areas.

Problem: Big Spring Run, a headwater tributary of the Conestoga River, was characterized by severe streambank erosion and degradation. The stream valley had been filled in by nutrient-rich sediments generated by historical land-use practices, including 19th century milldams located along the stream. Streambank erosion was contributing to over 60 percent of the sediments suspended in the stream flow. The release of nutrient-rich sediments was impacting downstream water quality.

Project Location: Warwick Township, PA

Problem: The Lititz Run channel flowing through the Banta property in Warwick Township had been moved, straightened, and dammed for a historical mill operation. This artificial configuration created streambank erosion and stream channel instability. The overly wide and deep channel was migrating slowly into the side of a steep slope with a major road artery 75 feet above.

Problem: Lime Spring Square is a commercial development in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with retail, office, medical, industrial, and residential space. The proposed development area straddled an extended reach of Brubaker Run with severely eroded stream banks, poor water quality, and consistent flooding issues.

Problem:  A highly incised stream caused flooding in Logan Park and adjacent community during significant storm events. This created a hazard to residents as well as a shortage of athletic field space due to frequently flooded soccer fields. In addition, polluted overflow created erosion and pollution to Rife Run, a tributary to Chiques Creek.
