The Chesapeake Bay watershed’s roadside ditch network can be both a source of nutrients and sediments as well as a conduit for their transport to local streams and rivers. A new project is helping provide guidance for the design and maintenance of a series of best management practices (BMPs) for roadside ditches to help reduce pollutant export from these ditches and even provide some additional treatment.
