Webinar: Creating a Culture of Clean Water: Residential Engagement for Ecosystem Impact
Interested in learning more about how residential outreach and engagement programs can help MS4s meet nutrient TMDL targets?
Free webinar by the Chesapeake Water Environment Association, 12 pm- 1 pm EST
Please join the CWEA's Stormwater Committee and Juliana Dixon, with Lake Champlain International (LCI), to learn about their approach towards addressing Lake Champlain's nutrient TMDL. LCI has developed and introduced a water quality auditing and certification protocol for properties in the Lake Champlain watershed, called BLUE®. LCI began a community-wide education initiative to reduce the negative impacts of residential properties.
BLUE® has been welcomed by MS4 municipalities, resulting in over 1,000 homes being visited, with over 470 evaluations. Following each evaluation, properties are provided the opportunity to become certified as watershed-friendly by adopting and complying with a clear list of required action steps. To earn certification, property owners comply with scientifically accepted practices for reducing water pollution runoff originating on their properties and agree to periodic follow-up audits during a three-year certification period to maintain their certified status.
1.0 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be offered for this webcast.
