Tri-State Marine Wetland Creation

Project Location: Deale, MD

Problem: The Tri-State Marine (TSM) property, a full-service marine business, featured a large, unsightly gravel lot used to store boats and trailers. TSM’s former owners, Tom & Mary Beth Magenau, believed a company relying on a clean, healthy Chesapeake Bay should contribute to projects that help prevent polluted runoff.

Winchester on the Severn Rain Garden

Project location: Annapolis, MD

Problem:  Winchester on the Severn is a residential neighborhood north of Annapolis.  In one section of the community, an old stormwater conveyance system was failing, with water flows scouring the nearby hillside and polluted runoff impairing Chase Creek, a tributary of the Severn River.

Project Location: Annapolis, MD

Problem:  The property of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Annapolis’ Eastport neighborhood includes a wooded area that had been overtaken by invasive plants, putting the tree canopy in danger of failing. Annapolis Visitor Center Permeable Parking Court

Project location: Annapolis, MD

Problem: Visitors to Maryland’s historic state capital often stop at the Annapolis Visitor Center before exploring the rest of the city.  Unfortunately, the Center’s parking lot was poorly accessible, unattractive, and prone to flooding (or becoming iced-over in winter).

Old Bay Ridge Road Step Pool Conveyance System

Project location: Annapolis, MD

Problem:  In Annapolis’ Bay Ridge neighborhood, a culvert at Cat Hole Creek had become overwhelmed by the volume of stormwater flowing from surrounding areas during rain events.  Excess water had eroded the hillside near the culvert and caused sinkholes to form, making the area unsafe for Bay Ridge residents who had enjoyed swimming in the Creek.
